BiZone automatic powder-gas fire-fighting systems

Systems are designed for automatic fire extinguishing in vertical steel tanks according to GOST 52910 with stand-alone internal floating roof (VSTF) and without internal floating roof (VST) (capacity of up to 20,000 m3) by supply of powder-gas mixture (PGFEQA) into fire areas.

APGFSS correspond to the requirements of GOST R 56028-2014 “Automatic gas-powder fire extinguishing systems and modules. General technical requirements. Test methods”. Systems are designed according to STO 4854-03913393076-2017 “Automatic powder-gas fire-fighting systems. Design standards and regulations” agreed and registered according to Letter of the Department of Supervisory Activities and Preventive Measures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia dated December 11, 2018, No. 19-2-4-3007 as a regulatory document on fire safety with assignment of “ВНПБ-74-18” code.

System description

When the controlled factor (heat) limit of automatic fire annunciators installed in the tank roof and top ring is exceeded, the monitoring and control receiver generates a start signal. The lock and release device is activated, and gas flows into a powder tank. When a certain pressure in the powder tank is achieved, the diaphragm device is activated. APGFSS has low response time, fire-extinguishing mixture is supplied into the protected area in 5 seconds after the system activation and extinguishes at an early stage (30 seconds before ignition).

BiZone APGFSS are equipped with high-pressure foam generators (HPFG) for connection of fire-fighting equipment and supply of foam with low expansion ratio based on aqueous film forming foam into a boundary layer, directly to a surface of burning oil product.
